The device is based on a T5 fluorescent lamp and can be used in fluorescent lamp holders of the T8 system or operated as a rod, standing or suspension lamp. An electronic voltage adapter operates a T5 fluorescent lamp in a housing system which can accommodate different types of tube to protect the lamp against glass breakage effects from outside and in the event of glass breakage occurring retains the glass in the tube system until the lamp is dismantled.
