An imaging device is provided that generates and transfers an image to a print media. A photoconductor includes a photosensitive surface layer and a wear indicator layer under the surface layer. The wear indicator layer is visually distinct from the surface layer so that when the wear indicator layer is exposed, it indicates worn areas of the surface layer.
