The air discharger for a motor vehicle has an air outlet opening (5) closed off by a component connected to an operating device for adjustment between an open and a closed position. The operating device has an adjusting element (6) installed approximately centrally and stationary in the region of the air outlet opening and rotatable around an approximate vertical axis (7) with regard to the opening cross sectional plane. At least two rotatable vanes (11,11') are coupled to the adjusting element by an operating gear (12,13) so that they can pivot between an open and a closed position.
