Archery arrow has injection molded stabilising plastic vanes with profiled rib surface increasing surface area in proportion to aerodynamic chord

An archery arrow has a shaft with a front tip and a rear set of plastic vanes (1) attached to the shaft, which stabilise flight and trajectory. The plastic vanes are fabricated by injection molding. As seen in cross-section, the vanes appear as a chain of linked spheres (4) whose surface area is relatively large in comparison to the aerodynamic chord.
