Electronic control of sliding door system e.g. for lifts - uses serial EEPROM to store self-determining operating parameters obtained during testing and used in normal operation

An automatic sliding door (1) system drives the door in both directions (13,14) between open and closed positions by a motor (10) driving a belt transmission. Coupled to the motor spindle is an encoder providing accurate measurement of the positions of the door during opening and closing. Stops (4) define the closed position. The control system has a serial EEPROM memory that stores the operating parameters of the system. The parameters are determined during a test cycle and once stored are accessed for automatic control in normal operation.
