PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method are provided to improve the charging efficiency by minimizing the generation of heat due to a charging current upon charging a battery pack. CONSTITUTION: A BMS(Battery Management System)(620) compares a voltage difference among battery modules(610,612,614) within a battery pack. In case of detecting a battery module having voltage more than a predetermined voltage, the BMS(620) generates a charge blocking control signal for preventing over-charge of the detected battery module. Relays(630,632,634) are electrically circuit-connected among the battery modules(610,612,614) and driven according to an input of the charge blocking control signal supplied from the BMS(620) to isolate charging power supplied to the battery modules(610,612,614).
