PURPOSE: Provided is a composition comprising an extract of Sambucus williamsii HANCE var. coreana NAKAI having HCV inhibiting activity. Therefore, it is useful for medicine and health food supplements for the prevention and treatment of HCV. CONSTITUTION: A composition is characterized by comprising an extract of Sambucus williamsii HANCE var. coreana NAKAI having prevention and treatment effects on HCV. The extract is obtained by using a polar solvent, such as water and butanol or nonpolar solvent, such as ethylacetate and chloroform solvent. The composition contains 0.5-50% of the extract, based on the total weight of the composition.
