PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processing method, a signal processing circuit, and an information recording and reproducing apparatus wherein the signal processing circuit and the signal processing method adopt a demodulation system with a demodulation characteristic in matching with a frequency band of a transmission line to demodulate data for the information recording and reproducing apparatus employing a modulation demodulation system using carriers and having the limited frequency band passing through the transmission line of a recording and reproducing system. SOLUTION: In the information recording and reproducing apparatus employing the modulation demodulation system using carriers, when the recording and reproducing system of the information recording and reproducing apparatus has the characteristic of the transmission line wherein a high frequency band higher than a center frequency of a signal, that is, an upper side wave band is attenuated, a lower frequency band lower than the center frequency of the signal, that is, a lower side band and the attenuated upper side band are used to demodulate the recorded signal.
