METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MANAGING CONTENTS DISTRIBUTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To individually set a use condition and a use environment of contents for each end user and to further distribute contents protected by encapsulation by an optimum DRM (digital rights management) system based on the use condition and the use environment.

SOLUTION: A device for managing contents distribution is provided with a contents distribution condition selection means for individually setting a contents distribution condition for each end user, a contents distribution condition acquiring means for acquiring a contents distribution condition from the end user, a contents distribution condition determining means for referring to an IPR-DB storing contents attributes information and use condition description and a DRM-DB storing use condition information and use environment information available for each DRM type to determine a DRM type fitting the contents distribution condition and further preparing an encapsulation parameter needed to encapsulate the DRM type, and an encapsulation processing means for encapsulating the contents on the basis of the DRM type and the encapsulation parameter.
