<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pickup device corresponding to a high speed recording/ reprodicing without resulting in an increase in load or noise of a micro computer. <P>SOLUTION: The pickup device has a variety of elements to be controlled having to be electrically controlled such as an optical sensor. The elements are coupled with a control element in the pickup device through inner signal lines and controlled by a control signal supplied from the control element. The control element is coupled to an external micro computer through an external signal line and receive a control signal, etc., from the micro computer. According to such a configuration, the signal lines of each element to be controlled can be short signal lines only within the pickup device, the problems of an influence of a noise and a delay of a signal are reduced, so that it becomes possible to operate accurately the each element to be controlled even at the time of high speed recording.
