The system has an inlet control blade (1) regulator for varying the rate of air flow into a compressor (2), a fuel regulating valve (5) for varying the rate of fuel flow into a combustion unit (4), a speed-load regulator that acts on the valve to regulate the fuel flow rate, and hence the gas turbine (7) revolution rate, a combustion gas temperature regulator and a system frequency abnormality sensor. The gas temperature regulator has a shut-off device that operates in response to the operation of the abnormality sensor to deactivate the gas temperature regulator so that the valve is regulated by the speed-load regulator to restore a system frequency.
