PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying a tetrakisfluorophenyl borate useful as an olefin polymerization catalyst component or its synthetic raw material in a good efficiency. SOLUTION: This method for purifying the tetrakisfluorophenyl borate is characterized by dissolving the tetrakisfluorophenyl borate into a solvent having≥15 and≤30 SP value and then precipitating the borate with water or an aliphatic hydrocarbon-based solvent.
