摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling the position of a pickup by which the pickup is controlled to be at a desired position in a short period of time even when there is an error in reading of track positional information by simple constitution. SOLUTION: The method for controlling the position of the pickup which makes the pickup jump to the position of the desired address of a disk calculates the number of tracks to jump from a difference between a present address read by the pickup and the desired address, and makes the pickup jump the number of tracks. When an address read at the jumped position is not the desired address, the number of tracks to jump to the desired address is calculated again to make the pickup jump the calculated number of tracks. In such a case, when single-track jump toward the side of an inner periphery is continuously repeated, the method forcedly makes the pickup jump the prescribed number of tracks inward.
