PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Lewis acid catalyst composition that achieves both a high reaction efficiency and an easy separation of a reaction product and a recyclable catalyst after the reaction and a method for recovering the Lewis acid catalyst. SOLUTION: The Lewis acid catalyst composition contains a carbon dioxide medium (A), a fluorinated compound medium (B), a phase-separating non- fluorinated compound medium (C), at least one kind of Lewis acid catalyst selected from a metal sulfonate, a metal salt of sulfonyl imide, and a metal salt of sulfonyl methide (D). The method for recovering the Lewis acid catalyst comprises a reaction process in which reaction materials are reacted, when the carbon dioxide medium (A) in the composition is under a supercritical condition, and a subsequent process in which after the carbon dioxide medium (A) is released from the supercritical condition, the fluorinated compound medium (B) containing the Lewis acid catalyst and the non-fluorinated compound medium (C) containing the reaction product are separated and refined.
