<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer equipped with a function of identifying an interface device. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming device is provided with a random number generating part for generating different random number values each time. The generated random number values are transferred to an interface device. The specific ID of the interface device is associated with the random number values, and the resultant date are registered as the identification ID of the interface device in a printer.
