APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETECTING FAULT OF PROJECTION NUT

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for detecting fault of a projection nut are provided to reduce a fault rate and to improve productivity of projection nuts by detecting turn-over and eccentricity of the projection nuts before a welding process is carried out. CONSTITUTION: A projection welder includes a body section(2), an upper electrode section, and a lower electrode section(6). The body section(2) forms a basic structure of the projection welder. The upper electrode section including a pressing cylinder(8) is arranged at an upper front portion of the body section(2). The upper electrode section is provided with a shank(16) and an upper detecting device(18). A nut turn-over detecting section(14) including an electrode tip is arranged on the shank(16). A cap forming the nut turn-over detecting section(14) is formed at a lower portion thereof with a detection hole and surrounds the electrode tip(14).
