<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of easily and reliably discriminating the conditions of the internal quality of apple such apple is which sorbitol is normally scattered, apple containing an intermediate amount of sorbitol, and apple containing a small amount of sorbitol. <P>SOLUTION: An apple 2 is irradiated with light. On the basis of the intensity of transmitted light in at least one wavelength band in the visible light region among a plurality of wavelength of the transmitted light bands which form peaks from the visible light region to the near infrared region, the internal quality of the apple 2 is determined. In this case, the internal quality may be determined by preparing apple 2 in the various conditions of internal quality, previously measuring and storing the intensities of light transmitted through the apple 2 in at least one wavelength band in the visible light region, and comparing the intensity of light transmitted through the apple 2 to be inspected in the wavelength band in the visible light region with the stored intensities of transmitted light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
