METHOD FOR PRODUCING HYDROCARBON HAVING LOW SULFUR AND MERCAPTAN CONTENTS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a hydrocarbon having low sulfur and mercaptan contents. SOLUTION: This method for desulfurizing a hydrocarbon fraction containing sulfur compounds and olefin compounds comprises at least the following sequential processes: the first desulfurization of the fraction in the presence of hydrogen and a hydrodesulfurization catalyst under a condition that the desulfurization rate of the fraction is increased more than 90%; the separation of most of the hydrogen sulfide by-produced by the first desulfurization; and the second desulfurization of the hydrogen sulfide-removed effluent from the separation process in the presence of hydrogen and a hydrodesulfurization catalyst under a condition that the desulfurization rate of the effluent is lowered more than that on the first desulfurization.
