SILENCER FOR INTERNAL-COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silencer for an internal-combustion engine capable of draining the condensate stagnating at the bottom of a housing to the outside without leaving any residue substantially. SOLUTION: The silencer of the internal-combustion engine has a bulkhead 4 formed through a press working and furnished in a single piece with a guide part 8 for draining off the condensate stagnating at the bottom of the second chamber 5B. The guide part 8 is made in a taper form recessed from the side with the second chamber 5B toward a third chamber 5C and with the diameter decreasing in the same direction. The bottom of the guide part 8 is continued in a single piece to near the bottom of the bulkhead 4B. A supporting cylinder 9 protruding from the second chamber 5B to the third chamber 5C is provided continuously in the upper part of the guide part 8. The upstream end of an outlet pipe 7 is fitted fast in the inside surface of the supporting cylinder 46. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
