PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the image forming method of an electrophotographic system, an image forming apparatus and a process cartridge by which film peeling is eliminated because the sticking property of the coated layer end part of an electrophotographic photoreceptor is made excellent in spite of an excellent image quality, toner filming is eliminated, toner soiling is eliminated, a defect such as a black spot is eliminated and whose durability is made excel lent and an electrophotographic photoreceptor used for them. SOLUTION: In the image forming method, the electrophotographic photoreceptor in which the shape of a coated layer end part obtained by removing a coated layer including at least a photoreceptive layer by bringing the surplus coated layer surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor on which the coated layer is formed on a cylindrical conductive base body into contact with an abrading means is within a stipulation is used, and the coefficient of variation of the shape coefficient of used toner is set as≤16%.
