OPTICAL FIBER DISPERSION/DISTRIBUTION MEASURING INSTRUMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber dispersion/distribution measuring instrument capable of efficiently measuring the dispersion/distribution of an optical fiber to be measured in a best condition without requiring a user to perform troublesome work. SOLUTION: A light power meter 26 detects the power of pulse light made incident on a measured optical fiber FUT (Fiber Under Test) while a light power meter 28 detects power of pulse light emitted from the optical fiber to be measured FUT. A control device 34 controls the gain of an optical amplifier 18 while referring to the detection results of the meters 26 and 28, thereby controlling and setting the power of pulse light to be made incident on the optical fiber to be measured FUT.
