PURPOSE: An EC(Eddy Current) exciter controller is provided to achieve improved performance of the controller by storing the control algorithm and data process routine in a flash memory. CONSTITUTION: An EC exciter controller comprises an input filter(702) for removing electrical noises by filtering the input power passed through a protection fuse or breaker(701); an SCR(703) for converting an alternating current into a direction current, and controlling the amount of the converted direct current; an output filter(704) for alleviating a square wave by filtering the square wave generated from the output of the SCR; and a control unit(710) for receiving signals output from a load cell(705) and an encoder(706), calculating variances of torques, and maintaining torques constant by performing a control in accordance with the calculated variances.
