<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a settlement applying device, a settlement receiving device, a settlement applying method, and a settlement receiving method which enable both sides to directly send and receive data not through a telephone network by making radio communication connections and omit the trouble of cable connections, etc. <P>SOLUTION: A mobile information terminal 1 sends and receives personal information, settlement information, credit information, present application information, etc., to and from a store terminal 2 through radio communication. The store terminal 2 sends the personal information, settlement information, present application information, etc., received from the portable information terminal 1 through the radio communication to a settlement server 10 and requests the personal information to be authenticated. According to the authentication result of the settlement server 10, an application for settlement from the mobile information terminal 1 is accepted.
