PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder that stably moves a small, light-weight carriage with respect to variation in a scanning load. SOLUTION: A control device controls a relative speed of a removing member with respect to an ejection face in a second speed Vw3 greater than a first speed Vw1 suitable for removing a useless matter. The control device controls to change the relative speed to the first speed Vw1 from the second speed Vw3 when the removing member starts to contact the ejection face. The control device reduces, by a first speed reduction rate in a first speed reduction process, the relative speed from the second speed Vw3 to a third speed Vw2 which is greater than the first speed Vw1. The third speed Vw2 is chosen such that the relative speed becomes the first speed Vw1 in an under shoot. The control device reduces, in a second speed reduction process, the relative speed from the third speed Vw2 to the first speed Vw1 by a second speed reduction rate which is smaller than the first speed reduction rate.
