APPARATUS FOR CONNECTING AAL2 TRUNKING SERVICE IN ATM SWITCHING SYSTEM AND METHOD THEREFOR

PURPOSE: An apparatus for connecting AAL2 trunking service in an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) switching system and a method therefor are provided to improve the efficiency of a bandwidth of an ATM network and increase the use efficiency of resources related to VPI(Virtual Path Identifier)/VCI(Virtual Connection Identifier). CONSTITUTION: A media gateway includes an AAL2(ATM Adaptation Layer type 1) trunking processor taking charge of the transmission and receipt of ATM cells and a non-ATM multiplexor multiplexing the ATM cells received from the AAL2 trunking processor. A fast cell processor matches the ATM cells received from the non-ATM multiplexor. An AAL2 processor converts data received from a fast time switch unit into AAL2 traffic to be assembled as ATM cells. A TDM(Time Division Multiplexing) link unit matches lines having a predetermined transfer rate. The fast time switch unit matches the AAL2 processor with the TDM link unit for switching the same. A management control unit controls the AAL2 trunking processor.
