PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modified polyester resin and a molded product which excel in transparency, heat resistance (particularly heat resistance to boiling water, chemical resistance, gas barrier properties, ultraviolet shielding properties, and hue. SOLUTION: The modified polyester resin is composed of a 2,6- naphthalenedicarboxylic acid component, 9,9-bis-(4-hydroxyethoxyphenyl)-fluorene component, and a 2-4C aliphatic glycol component with a content of the 9,9- bis-(4-hydroxyethoxyphenyl)-fluorene component in the total glycol components of 10-60 mol%, and is substantially free of a germanium compound.
