PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to use only an injection electrification mechanism even in the case of applying a voltage equal to or above a discharge threshold onto a contact electrifying member 2 in a contact electrifying device of a direct injection electrifying mechanism using conductive particles (m) and an image forming apparatus using the contact electrification device as an electrifying means for an image carrier 1, and also, to completely prevent the electric discharge between a body to be electrified 1 just before passing through the contact part and the contact electrifying member 2. SOLUTION: In the contact electrifying device for electrifying the body to be electrified 1 by bringing the contact electrifying member 2 into contact with the body to be electrified 1 and applying a voltage between the contact electrifying member 2 and the body to be electrified 1, the conductive particles (m) are held in a position N just before when the body to be electrified 1 starts to come into contact with the contact electrifying member 2.
