The device has input voltage terminals coupled to a series circuit with inductive energy storage, a first switch, a parallel rectifier with output voltage terminals and a switch drive circuit with capacitive charge storage and drive logic. The logic has an oscillator that provides a drive signal depending on a clock signal, a potential applied to the first connection of the charge storage element and a reference potential. The device has input voltage terminals (EK3,4) coupled to a series circuit with an inductive energy storage arrangement (L), a first switch (S1), a parallel rectifier (D1,C1) with output voltage terminals and a switch drive circuit with a capacitive charge storage arrangement (2) and drive logic (K,10,OSC). The drive logic has an oscillator (OSC) that provides a drive signal depending on a clock signal (CLK) provided by the oscillator, a potential applied to the first connection of the charge storage element and a reference potential. Independent claims are also included for the following: a drive circuit for a switch in an inventive device and a method of driving a switch in an inventive device.
