In soluble blood powder prepn. from blood constituent-contg. mixts., present as solns., suspensions or emulsions, the initial mixt. is diluted with water to form a soln. which is 2% more dil. than natural blood. An anti-coagulant, pref. Na2CO3 and citric acid, is added to the soln. to prevent coagulation. The soln. is then passed through a flow system which is under a pressure of 50-200 atmos. On leaving the low system, pressure relaxation causes the digestion of the blood components having a defined structure. The mixt. is then evaporated to 30-50% dryness and spray-dried. The prod. is a protein-rich foodstuff- and feedstuff additive, esp. for feeding young animals.
|
