PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a gallium nitride phosphor excellent in luminous characteristics, to provide a production process therefor and a display device using the phosphor. SOLUTION: The gallium nitride phosphor, when heated in a vacuum, emits H2and H2O gases respectively in amounts of 0.2 cm3/g or less and 2.0 cm3/g or less based on the phosphor. It is obtained by subjecting a gallium nitride phosphor powder to heat treatment or microwaves in an atmosphere substantially free from H2and H2O gases. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
