STRUCTURE OF IMAGE SENSOR PIXEL ARRAY

PURPOSE: A structure of a pixel array of an image sensor is provided to surround photo diodes with a metal to improve the uniformity of following steps such as chemical and mechanical polishing of the image sensor, and improve the light collecting and light receiving characteristics of the photo diodes. CONSTITUTION: A structure of a pixel array of an image sensor includes an uppermost metal layer(22) surrounding respective photodiode(PD) areas in the shape of closed curve. The uppermost metal layer surrounds incident light on the uppermost metal within unit pixels(20) to improve the light collecting characteristics in the photodiode areas and prevent the leaking of the light into adjacent photo diodes.
