A disc drive comprising a disc holding pawl (51) being inserted into the central hole (1a) of a disc to engage with the disc thus holding the disc on a turntable (41). The disc holding pawl (51) engages with the disc or disengages therefrom under a state where the disc is contained in the body of disc drive (10). The disc holding pawl (51) engages with the disc by the movement of the turntable (41) toward the disc.
