<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the compaction of an end sealing apparatus by shortening an article transfer region. <P>SOLUTION: An extensible and retractable bed 31 disposed on the upstream side of a pair of sealing members 19 and 22 is provided with a belt 35, of which both the open ends are held at a predetermined position in a frame 16 with the aid of locking members 33 and 34. The belt 35 is stretched over a support roller 39 capable of moving back and forth along the direction in which a film is transferred, and the horizontal part of the belt 35, which is positioned in the distance from the upper side locking member 33 to the support roller 39, is used as an article support face. In response to the operation of the first sealing member 19, the support roller 39 is moved back and forth along a film- transferring direction by an interlocking means consisting of a first cam plate 49 and a first cam groove 49a. With this arrangement, the article support face is extended and retracted. Tension is always imparted to the belt 35 by means of tension springs 44 and 44, and even when the article support face is extended or retracted, it is always kept in a tense state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
