<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a control performance in a transient period in a control for maintaining an excess air ratio at a target value while controlling an intake air amount by an intake air throttle valve in combination with an EGR control in a diesel engine. <P>SOLUTION: When the EGR rate is reduced by reducing the opening of an EGR valve according to an increase in speed of the engine, the opening of the intake air throttle valve is correctively reduced according to an increase in a pressure difference across the intake air throttle valve due to a reduction in EGR amount flowing into the downstream side of the intake air throttle valve. Thus, the intake air amount can be maintained at a constant target value, and also the excess air ratio can be maintained at a target value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
