PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a composite warhead: wherein there is a fear that the destruction effect of the composite warhead may be decreased if, after its main warhead has penetrated an armor, particularly at slow speeds, it explodes before going sufficiently deep into the armor, because it is not easy to keep the size of fragments of the warhead not smaller than half the original diameter of an auxiliary warhead and a substantial amount of kinetic energy must inevitably be lost in widening an entrance hole when the main warhead penetrates the armor. SOLUTION: The composite warhead comprises the main warhead and the auxiliary warhead, with the main head comprising: a shell that is scattered as numerous fragments upon the detonation of a main bursting charge; the main bursting charge that causes scattering of the shell using its detonation power; and a main booster for detonating the main bursting charge; and with the auxiliary warhead comprising: a liner oriented in the same direction as the circumferential direction of the main warhead and adapted for boring a hole in a target outer plate by the detonation of an auxiliary bursting charge, for introducing the main warhead therethrough; the auxiliary bursting charge that imparts energy to the liner; and an auxiliary booster for detonating the auxiliary bursting charge.
