<p>Waste is tipped from a suitable transport vehicle into a bin (1) with a rotating screw (2) moving backwards and forwards in the bottom, from where it transported via screw conveyors (3, 4) and distribution screws (5, 6) to pulpers (7, 8), where it is broken down using a spring-loaded and self- adjusting rotary knife (9) in the bottom of the pulper. At the same time valves (26, 27) are used to add effluent water or another suitable hot or cold dilution fluid to the waste in the pulpers, forming a floating slurry which is pumped into sedimentation tanks (10, 11) for removing heavy materials such as sand and stones. The degree of sedimentation is controlled using adjustable rotation speed stirrers (12.1, 12.2) and the floating slurry from the sedimentation tanks is pumped back into the pulper. The degree of pulping is controlled via the gaps (15, 16) in the screens (13, 14) in the pulpers and once the material has been pulped to the desired size, it is pumped int o the compost chamber (17). Sediment is pumped into a sedimentation tank (22) for removing sand and heavier material and then into a container (23). Excess water flows by gravity into a pumping station (24) for supplying a flush water tank (25) used for cleaning the apparatus and for supplying the pulpers with dilution liquid. A discharge pump (28) is used to empty the sedimentation tanks and pulpers in order to supply material to the compost chamber.</p> |
