PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position information check system and a position information checking method which suppressed the delay of a zone determination to a minimum and the increase of the cost such as communication charge, etc., to a minimum and make the zone determination according to zone characteristics. SOLUTION: When a moving body approaches into an information update interval change area Q set within a specified range from a boundary line of a zone R, the information update interval is changed to a short one. The size D of the information update interval change area Q is determined, with taking the importance and the size of the zone R into consideration. While locating inside the information update interval change area Q, the next information update interval is changed in any time according to the distance of the moving body from the boundary line of the zone R, the moving speed or the travel distance of the moving body, etc. When the moving body approaches into an information update interval change area covering a plurality of zones, information update intervals about all the zones are computed to change the information update interval to the shortest one of them.
