The support column for a lorry roof can be adjusted in height. It comprises a support post (1) and a slotted rail (3) which can be moved up and down inside this. A slide (6) is mounted on the rail and can be locked on to it by a bolt passing through one of the slots. The lower edge of the slide acts as a stop and supports the rail against the top of the post.
