PURPOSE: A therapeutic composition for skin diseases including atopy and the like is provided which characteristically contains processed ginseng or its extract as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of skin diseases, such as atopy, is characterized by containing, as an active ingredient, a processed ginseng extract in which the content of ginsenoside Rg3, Rk1 and Rg5 is greater than that of ginsenoside Rb1, Rb2, Rc and Rd. The processed ginseng extract is obtained by heating at 110-180 deg.C for 0.5-20 hours, and the ginsenoside Rg3, Rg5 and Rk1 are represented by the formula (1), (2) and (3), respectively.
