<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for alternating-current generator-motor capable of controlling an alternating-current generator-motor so that power generation efficiency is enhanced. <P>SOLUTION: The controller is connected between the alternating-current generator-motor 10 and a battery 12. When the generator-motor 10 is operated as a generator, the controller utilizes diodes 114 to 116 and 131 to 133 respectively formed in switching elements 106 to 108 and 121 to 123 on upper and lower arms in each of three phases. The controller thereby converts alternating-current power generated by the generator into direct-current power and outputs the direct-current power to the battery 12. At this time, a synchronous rectification phase control portion 14 controls the switching elements 106 to 108 and 121 to 123 wherein the diodes 114 to 116 and 131 to 133 under energization are formed.
