摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure moisture with satisfactory accuracy by taking into consideration the abrasion of a liner on an inside wall of a hopper without making the counting time long, in a method of measuring the moisture contained in a raw material for iron manufacturing inside the hopper by a neutron moisture meter using californium 252 as a neutron source. SOLUTION: A bolt 17 attached to the hopper 15 is pulled out, its length is measured, a thickness of the liner 15a is found, and the number of thermal neutrons at the liner 15a is calculated on the basis of a working curve of the thickness of the liner and the number of thermal neutrons. The number of thermal neutrons in the raw material 16 for iron manufacturing inside the hopper is found, the number of thermal neutrons in the liner 15a is subtracted, and the moisture is found on the basis of a working curve of the number of thermal neutrons and a moisture value. When the counting time becomes long so as to be subjected to a restriction on the response time, the number of counting tubes is increased. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
