PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remind a user, before a battery charging is required, that the remaining quantity of a battery has decreased to a prescribed level, and to surely warn the user of the need to charge, when a battery is required to charge. SOLUTION: An electric vehicle having a motor 2 driven by a battery 1 is provided with an warning means 3 that outputs a sound to warn a user, and a setting switching means 4 that can switch between a effect sound setting and a voice setting. The construction of the remaining quantity warning apparatus is such that, when the setting is for an effect sound, only the effect sound is output every time the remaining quantity of the battery 1 decreases to a prescribed amount; when voice setting is for the effect sound is output every time the remaining quantity of the battery 1 decreases a prescribed amount until charging is required, and when the remaining quantity wherein the battery 1 needs to be charged is detected, the output is made in voice.
