<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is superior in visibility and gives high-definition display and allows reflection light and transmission light to be utilized for display. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device provided with a liquid crystal display element 100 having a pair of substrates 4 and 5 and a liquid crystal layer 1 sandwiched by the pair of substrates 4 and 5 is provided with a reflection display part 9 for reflection display and a transmission display part 10 for transmission display, and the phase difference between display light on a reflecting means of the reflection display part at the time of bright display and that at the time of dark display is about 90°, and the phase difference between display light emitted from the liquid crystal layer in the transmission display part at the time of bright display and that at the time of dark display is about 180°. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
