PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce time to transfer X-ray detector data or projection data of a conventional scan (an axial scan), a cine scan, or a helical scan of an X-ray CT apparatus with a two-dimensional area X-ray detector of a matrix structure typified by a multi-row X-ray detector or a flat-panel X-ray detector to achieve a reduction in the imaging time and the image reconstruction time. SOLUTION: The X-ray detector data or a projection data of the X-ray CT apparatus is divided into a region of interest and a region of non-interest, and the volume of the data is reduced by compressing the X-ray detector data or the projection data of the region of non-interest to reduce the transfer time to input in/output from a storage device during the collection of the X-ray detector data and the reconstruction of images. Consequently, the imaging time and the image reconstruction time of the X-ray CT apparatus are reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
