A fixed scroll (40) is provided with a fixed lap (41) and an outer periphery (42). The fixed lap (41) is formed in the shape of a volute wall. The outer periphery (42) is formed in the shape of a ring surrounding the periphery of the fixed lap (41). A movable scroll (50) is provided with a first flat plate (51), a movable lap (53), and a second flat plate (52). The movable lap (53) is formed in the shape of a volute wall. Further, the movable lap (53) is held between the first and second plates (51, 52) in meshing relation to the fixed lap (41). In the case of this movable lap (53), the first flat plate (51) is formed integral with the movable lap (53). Further, the second flat plate (52) is formed as a separate body from the first flat plate (51) and movable lap (53) and is joined to the first flat plate (51) by bolts (62).
