A molded resilient plastic container (10), such as a paint can, that includes a rim assembly (14) to facilitate the receipt and removal of a plastic lid (16). The rim assembly (14) is adhesively attached to the main body (12) of the container (10) and includes an annular channel (20) that receives a portion of the lid (16). The annular channel (20) is defined at its inner edge by a flexible finger (20) having a locking tab (24) that engages a corresponding locking notch (58) formed on the lid (16) to lock the lid (16) onto the rim assembly (14). The container (10) includes a specifically designed bottom having a projecting annular flange (72) that can be received in an annular space (68) formed along the top edge of the container (10) between the lid (16) and rim assembly (14) when the lid is attached to the rim assembly (14). The container bottom also includes a projecting support leg (74) that further supports the container (10) when the containers are stacked on top of each other.
