GRAVURE COATING METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gravure coating method and apparatus by which the coating quantity distribution in the gravure roll axial direction is uniformalized immediately after a doctor blade is started to be used even in the case the coating quantity of the gravure coating is very small and as a result, an excellent uniform coated surface is obtained even when in the gravure coating of a very small quantity without necessitating trial operation and coating time is remarkably shortened to improve the productivity. SOLUTION: In the application of a coating material in a cell of the gravure roll 1 on a film base after a coating liquid is supplied on the surface of the gravure roll 1 and the excess coating liquid on the surface of the gravure roll 1 is scraped by a doctor blade 3 pressed to the surface of the gravure roll 1, the excess coating material is scraped by applying deflection nearly equal to the deflection of gravure roll 1 in the axially vertical direction of the gravure roll 1 to the doctor blade 3.
