PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle transmission with improved operability by changing shift patterns and the position of a shift lever by electrically generating load. SOLUTION: A transmission A is provided with a cross-direction sensor 3 for detecting the position of the shift lever 1 operated by a driver, an operating mode selection switch 7 for selecting an operating mode to be operated by the shift lever 1 from the two operation modes, a cross-effort reaction actuator 9, and a control device 4. The control device 4 consists of an operation panel setting section 4A for virtually setting an operation panel corresponding to the operation mode selected by the operation mode selection switch 7, a reaction controller 4B for setting reaction corresponding to the position of the shift lever 1 corresponding to the operation panel, and a transmission controller 4C for controlling the transmission 6 based on the position the shift lever 1 corresponding to the operation panel.
