PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thick film thermistor element which can be reduced in resistance, set narrow in characteristic deviation, and improved in reliability, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This thick film thermistor element is equipped with an alumina board 11, a glass layer 17 formed on the board 11, glass frit-free thermistor layers 19a, 19b, and 19c formed on the glass layer 17, and an internal electrode layer 18 formed on or inside the thermistor layers 19a, 19b, and 19c. A glass paste layer 17 having a softening point in the same temperature region with the optimal burning temperature region of the thermistor element is formed on the alumina board 11, glass frit-free thermistor paste layers 19a, 19b, and 19c are formed on the glass paste layer 17, and these layers are all burned at the same time.
