The inlet (10) in the valve casing (2) for the liquid under pressure is sealed by a stopper (40) containing a blind-drilled hole with an open end (41) for connecting to a liquid supply, a closed end (42) and a sleeve section (43) with a wall containing bores (44). The valve (1) includes a sliding sleeve (50) which seals the bores in the stopper wall when the valve is in the closed position and which can be slid into an open valve position to expose the bores and allow them to be in fluid communication with the outlet (20) in the valve casing for the liquid under pressure.
